PCR detection of ASBvd

Linnaeus designed its first real-time qPCR assay for ASBVd in 2005.

This was based on the detection of the viroid via melting curve analysis and was conceived by Mark Belton and Dr Rod Bonfiglioli. It was used up until 2008 when a new assay was required to assess for country of freedom for New Zealand.

The new assay was assessed by international experts before being used by Linnaeus in a large-scale project during 2008/2009. The outcome: New Zealand was declared country of freedom from ASBVd in late 2009.

Linnaeus can test samples both within NZ and from overseas with rapid turnaround times and very high sensitivity.
